"Anyone who slaps a 'this page is best viewed with Browser X' label on a Web page appears to be yearning for the bad old days, before the Web, when you had very little chance of reading a document written on another computer, another word processor, or another network."
-- Tim Berners-Lee in Technology Review, July 1996

Luckily I watch Luke Smith videos on LBRY now. Can't imagine what my recommendations would be like if I watched Jordan Peterson and Luke Smith together.

So. I turned on YouTube 's data collection thingy last week for 'personalized content' and started watching Jordan Peterson videos. Now my recommendations are filled with guns, 'army inspiration videos', people making fun of other people's preferred pronouns and Trump.

I thought the amount of anime music videos that I watch would've told the algorithm that I was not what it thought I was. :(

"Every Free and/or Open Source Software based/located/maintained/served/related to the USA and its companions IS NOT a Free Software, since there’s no freedom of use, access and study, at-least for 80 Millions of individuals."

If you host any #freesoftware in the USA, please consider moving your code outside USA.

Right now, we have following activities planned:
- "Introduction to Debian bullseye" by AR
- SuperTuxKart gaming session, details to follow.

If you would like to present an event/talk, please get in touch with @avronr , @anupaaj or @sahilister latest by Friday, so that we can plan accordingly.

A sad day for #FreeSoftware, #Kerala forgets its legacy in leading the world and falls for Google's 'free of cost' service.

I think we should educate teachers and general public about dangers of surveillance capitalism where you pay with your data, privacy and even at the cost of losing our political agency to big companies. #Google is providing 'Free of Cost' only because they know to make money out of people's data and has a monopoly in online ads. Would you join me?

A bully does not understand how solidarity works. When people see the pain of others, they want to do their bit to relieve it. When they see injustice, they oppose it.

Someone who sees protest and violence only as a means to power cannot understand this.

Installed VScodium (FOSS VSCode) again after almost 2 years to see if I'm missing out on anything. Turns out I'm not. Emacs has really spoiled every other text editor/IDE for me.

Does Redhat's recent move on the CentOS project feel like a similar but different version of Microsoft's Embrace, Enhance and Extinguish?

Had a chance to try windows 10 PC after so many years at a friends place. I must say. What an abomination it has become. It goes out of its way to be in your way of work, specially if you have a wacom plugged in. Settings scattered around all over. People say Linux is quirky. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Mothers are special people. They know how you feel from the way you sound over a phone call. Well they've been seeing you almost constantly from your birth. They also use this incredible amount of information to tell you exactly the right to make you do exactly what they want.

Any #nodejs developers interested in taking up this challenge?

Build #yarn 1.x with #babel 7.x

Yarn 2.x already moved to babel 7.x but there is no stable release for yarn 2.x and it is completely different from yarn 1.x.

This will help us ship yarn in #debian (we already moved everything else to babel 7.x but could not port this yet) for next stable release bullseye.

It would be useful to nodejs developers to make initial installation of yarn easy.
